I was sent this article... Which elaborates on a previous journal post of mine. Everything hits it right on the money, and got straight to the point and I wanted to reblog it.

FOF = Fans of FIM

that I am no longer associated with the word Brony. My love of the show, the ideals, and the basic tenants of what it stands for remain the same. But I no longer want to be associated with what this term means now.

However, I will always be a Fan of FIM.

I am not sad in the slightest. The people I have met in the community that I love and consider friends have nothing to do with the label "Brony". The community and those who uphold what the premise of the show and portray the positives of what we should take out of it...that is what I love. To me, they are not "Bronies", but true Fans of FIM.

The truth of the matter is. It was a term I was kind of proud of being apart of, even though I am not a huge fan of labels. I was / am active in the community and more and more all I see from people who call themselves a "Brony" is whiny, self-entitled, attention-seeking people who rarely have anything positive to say. They tout how amazing the community is but constantly berate the organization that brought us the product we watch and love. People expect crazy villains, elaborate plot lines, long, drawn out stories and when they don't get this, they go ballistic. It used to be a small minority, but that it is changing.

I am simply stating that the term is just now tarnished. It's starting to carry a negative stigma, and a lot of the people I grew up with this last year who are fans are farther and farther displacing themselves from the fandom because of it.

We grew big; we grew fast; and in the process we grew a cancer. Sure every fandom has this, I am not naive. I am just simply taking an active stance to continue to do and talk about what I love, without wanting to be labeled with a large minority of people I think have lost the way / never understood the way.

Like a lot of people on this earth, there are a good number of Bronies I am ashamed of. Those bronies who spread rumors, hate, pass judgement, ridicule, lie, steal, claim work for their own, and belittle others because of their own agendas and have no remorse or guilt doing it. It is rampant in the Brony community, and denying it is being naive

I harbor no ill will to anyone in particular, just a blanket statement of my thoughts.
